Sacristans are an integral part of the Altar Society. They make sure the sacristy and sanctuary are clean, orderly and well stocked.
They are teams that rotate, each working one week at a time to carry out their many duties. Their duties include clearing and cleaning the credence table and the priest’s table. They also, wash and care for all vessels and linens used for the celebration of Mass.
They stock and care for the candles, followers, lighters, priest vestments and altar server robes. They also tend the holy water fonts, organ, pulpit, tabernacle, and baptismal supplies. The Head Sacristan keeps track of and orders all supplies as needed.
